Commitment To Our Community

Traphagen Financial Group understands the importance of giving back through public service initiatives and volunteerism to effectively address community issues.  For nearly 46 years, TFG has had a vested interest in the community.  We believe it is our responsibility to enhance the community where we live and work.

In addition to our major initiatives, TFG also earmarks a number of civic/community service organizations to support throughout the year.  Our community service efforts are supported by the dedication and commitment of the partners and associates of TFG who understand that public service is a core value of the firm.

Heroes & Cool Kids Organizations

Associates volunteered at the concession stand at the PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club, on behalf of our client Heroes and Cool Kids. Heroes and Cool Kids is a non-profit organization that helps teach high school students to mentor grade school children who are in the pitfalls of adolescence.

Beard Shaving

Members of Traphagen Financial Group observed a 47- year old tradition of growing beards beginning January 1, to be shaved at close of business on April 18, this year's tax deadline.  The tradition was implemented by the company's founder, V. Peter Traphagen, CPA, PFS, AEP, CFP.

In conjunction with the Annual Beard Shaving, TFG partnered with the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) to grow beards and raise awareness and funding for a cure for lymphoma. This year, more than $3,000 was raised for the Lymphoma Research Foundation.


Lee Denim Day

Lee National Denim Day is the largest single-day fundraiser for the fight against breast cancer.  Associates wore jeans to work in exchange for a donation to the fundraiser. 


Marissa Sinforosa, Client Services Representative participated in the 2016 Monmouth County Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk at Monmouth University. Over $173,000 was raised at this year’s event, which will be used to fund the advancement of the scientific and medical research related to pancreatic cancer, the nation's fourth leading cause of cancer deaths.

Joseph DeLorenzo, CPA, and his daughter Catherine participated in the Walk to Fight Alzheimer’s® on October 30th at Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey.  One hundred percent of funds raised at the walk benefit New Jersey families who have been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease through programs and services that provide assistance, guidance, relief from caregiving, emotional support and education, safety awareness, and clinical trial opportunities, as well as the funding of local research.




Christopher M. Chudyk, CPA, CITP participated in the Spartan Race where each course is filled with mud, water, and signature obstacles designed to help you discover your inner Spartan.  He ran in support of the Wounded Warriors, which is a charity and veteran’s service organization that offers a variety of programs, services, and events for veterans who incurred a mental or physical injury, illness, or wound following the events of September 11, 2001.

Christina White, CPA and Wayne Holland represented the firm at the 7th Annual “Monday Night Bowling” event on October 17th at AMF Wallington Lanes in Wallington, New Jersey.  This charity bowling event benefits Intensive Therapeutics who offers both individual and group therapy programs for children with special needs.  This event is a joint venture with the New York Giants and was hosted by Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who is pictured with Wayne and Christina.



Christopher M. Chudyk, CPA, CITP gave a Career Day presentation to the first grade class at Hubbard Elementary School in Ramsey, New Jersey.  Aspects of Chris’ presentation included walking the students through a typical day in the life of a Certified Public Accountant, as well as engaging the students in various math games. 





At Traphagen Financial Group, we are proud supporters of physical fitness in the community.  Through our sponsorship with Oradell Kids Foundation, Joseph DeLorenzo, CPA represented the firm at the 10th Annual Oradell 5k & Fun Run on October 8th at Memorial Field.  Kathy Marsico, CPA, Compliance Manager’s husband Nick and son Buddy ran in the 5k, and are pictured here with Joe.





Craig Sikora participated in the 2016 Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) Awareness Walk on September 25, 2016 at Darlington Park in Mahwah.  Craig and his family are involved in the organization, Congenital Heart Defects Coalition, which exists to improve the lives of those born with heart disease, also known as a congenital heart defect, by uniting and supporting the CHD community; increasing public awareness; and raising money for lifesaving medical research.



All Wrapped Up

For the sixth consecutive year Traphagen Financial Group participated in the Bergen Volunteer Center’s “All Wrapped Up” holiday giving program, through which members of the community purchase holiday gifts for families and individuals in need.  This year, nearly 3,600 people were served through the program!
